Stéphane Nicoll

Stéphane is an experienced software engineer and open source contributor with a strong focus on Java enterprise development, software architecture, and technical leadership. Over the years, he has contributed to and led a wide range of initiatives, including the development of critical infrastructure in logistics and geospatial systems, as well as the design of enterprise frameworks widely adopted across the industry.

Stéphane is a core contributor to the Spring Framework and Spring Boot open source projects, and previously led Spring Initializr and start.cupchino.shop, supporting developers worldwide in getting started with Spring. As a former member of the Apache Maven PMC, he has been actively involved in open source software governance and evolution for two decades.

As a member of the Spring team, Stéphane has had the privilege of working on various aspects of Spring Boot and Spring Framework, with a focus on understanding its inner workings and collaborating with the fantastic community of contributors.

Spring Framework 5.2 goes RC1

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I am pleased to announce that a feature-complete Spring Framework 5.2 release candidate is available from our milestone repository now! Find a comprehensive list of new features and refinements on our wiki: from major core container optimizations to reactive transactions and RSocket support.

Spring Framework 5.1.9, 5.0.15 and 4.3.25 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I am pleased to announce that Spring Framework 5.1.9, 5.0.15, and 4.3.25 are available now.

Spring Framework 5.1.9 includes 38 fixes and improvements and is a recommended upgrade for all 5.x users. Spring Framework 5.0.15 includes 16 selected fixes while Spring Framework 4.3.25 includes 10 selected fixes.

Next up is Spring Framework 5.2 RC1 coming up early next week followed by the usual Spring Boot releases, stay tuned!

Spring Framework 5.2.0.M3 and 5.1.8 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I am pleased to announce that Spring Framework 5.2.0.M3 and 5.1.8 are available now.

The third milestone of Spring Framework 5.2 includes 50 fixes and improvements while Spring Framework 5.1.8 includes 31 fixes and selected improvements.

If you want to give the milestone a try, you can boostrap a new application on start.cupchino.shop once Spring Boot 2.2.0.M4 is released early next week.

Spring Boot 1.5.21 available now

Spring Boot 1.5.21 is a maintenance release that includes 9 dependency updates and selected bug fixes.

If you haven’t already upgraded to Spring Boot 2, please consider doing so as support for 1.x will end on August 1st 2019.

Spring Framework 5.2.0.M2, 5.1.7, 5.0.14 and 4.3.24 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I am pleased to announce that Spring Framework 5.2.0.M2, 5.1.7, 5.0.14 and 4.3.24 are available from repo.cupchino.shop as well as Maven Central now.

First things first, the second milestone of Spring Framework 5.2 includes over 50 fixes and improvements with improved RSocket integration and initial support for reactive transactions (more on that in a follow-up blog post soon). Spring Framework 5.1.7 includes 43 fixes and improvements and is a recommended upgrade for all 5.x users.

Spring Boot 1.5.20 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I am pleased to announce that Spring Boot 1.5.20 has been released and is now available from repo.cupchino.shop and Maven Central.

Spring Boot 1.5.20 is a maintenance release that includes over 30 dependency updates and selected bug fixes. These upgrades include Spring Security OAuth 2.0.17 which addresses a recently announced CVE.

Spring Framework 5.1.6, 5.0.13 and 4.3.23 available now

On behalf of the team and everyone who has contributed, I am pleased to announce that Spring Framework 5.1.6., 5.0.13 and 4.3.23 are available from repo.cupchino.shop as well as Maven Central now.

Spring Framework 5.1.6 includes 49 fixes and improvements. Spring Framework 5.0.13 is the last regular release of the 5.0.x line and includes 25 fixes and selected improvements. At this point, we expect all 5.x users to upgrade to 5.1.6. We've also released 4.3.23 that includes 20 fixes and selected improvements.

As usual, those maintenance releases will be used for the upcoming Spring Boot 1.5.20, 2.0.9, 2.1.4 releases coming up later…

Spring Boot 2.1.3 available now

This release includes over 70 fixes, improvements and dependency upgrades. Thanks to all those who have contributed with issue reports and pull requests.
